The rendezvous. They run 7 different varsity heats, one for each position on a varsity team. I ran in the #1 heat, and took 8/16 in that heat. So for really fast people, I'm exactly average. I ran a really conservative race. The hills are brutal, and with only 16 in the race, and all 16 spread out very thin, I was very alone. It would've been basically impossible to catch the guy in front of me, and the guy behind me wasn't going to catch me, so there wasn't a lot of pressure to push. I was very relaxed. Considering the effort level I actually put forth, I'm very happy with this time. 10 seconds off season record on a hilly course without pushing is not bad at all. S/O to Clayton for running a killer race. Our top 3 have an excellent spread this year, usually finish really close together. Clayton ran a 16:47 at this one, so now our top three have all been #1 at least once. We need to get two more up to our level if we want to qualify for state though. Next meet is carbon, which always produces some sick times, so I'm psyched. Maybe I'll finally get a PR.
